Known as the First Lady of Reach Records, her rise to fame as their first female hip-hop artist didn’t come easy. At an early age, she felt stuck chasing the validation of others.

Born in Nigeria, where the culture is roughly 50% Christian and 50% Muslim, Wande had both influences in her home. This led to her father disapproving of her curiosity about God. Moreover, she felt the academic pressure to study biology and become a doctor. Family, friends, culture, career – Wande thought seeking this approval would bring her fulfillment.
